Law Lectures 2026: “Patents and Innovation Policy Pluralism”

The annual “Law Lectures” event organized by the Boğaziçi University Faculty of Law will be held this year on April 20, 2026.

The event will feature Prof. Robert Burrell from the University of Oxford Faculty of Law as the guest speaker and will be conducted under the moderation of Dr. Özgür Arıkan.

This year’s lecture, titled “Patents and Innovation Policy Pluralism,” examines the role of the patent system in promoting innovation within a broader framework of policy tools, drawing on the multi-actor nature of innovation ecosystems. In this context, the lecture emphasizes the importance of context-sensitive and pluralistic approaches over one-size-fits-all solutions, while also addressing the limitations of alternative mechanisms beyond the patent system.
